Hessen’s Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Initiative (H2BZ) in cooperation with the Automotive Cluster RheinMainNeckar has organized a workshop dedicated to the role of the ICT technologies in electric and fuel cell vehicles. The event took place on December 1 in Schenck Technology and Industrial Park, Darmstadt, Germany. The organizers stress the fact that advanced ICT are indispensable for providing control over smart vehicles. “Hesse is a leading region when it comes to electric and fuel cell mobility. By acquiring new technologies we can strengthen positions of domestic companies and make Germany a leader in technology innovations” said Alexander Bracht, Hessen Agentur Technology and Innovation Director. The individual presentations focused on the following topics: ICT in a car (Siemens AG) An intelligent electric vehicle (Adam Opel AG) Test centers for electric mobility (Fraunhofer) Smart grids as basis for electric mobility (Süwag Renewables Source: H2BZ Initiative

The Annual Meeting of the Hydrogen Network North Rhine Westfalia will take place December 7, 2011. Presentations will examine, the region of North Rhine-Westphalia activities in the expansion of renewable energies and the associated consequences for networks and how storage of energy increasingly plays a major role. The Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Network NRW utilizes excessive wind energy to save in the form of hydrogen with the aim to Buffer the fluctuations in energy supply, the production, and consumption of electrical energy. The hydrogen can then be used as a clean fuel the transport sector. Fuel cell buses within projects funded by NRW, are currently in progress and successfully running in Hurth. During the annual meeting participants will have the opportunity to test ride the hydrogen bus. During the meeting, presentations will also examine the NRW incentive programs for cogeneration, the basic features, and the current projects in the field of CHP, electricmobility, and energy storage using hydrogen and fuel cells.
