As European Green Capital, Hamburg is using 2011 to send an impulse through Europe, encouraging ambitious efforts in areas such as environment and nature conservation.

The „Train of Ideas“ has begun its journey April 2011. Departing from Hamburg (15th – 21st of April), the train has commenced its tour throughout Europe, visiting a total of 18 European cities, ending the tour once again in Hamburg (29th of September – 20th of October). The Train visited the European Capital this September 7-13th.

As rolling ambassador for the city of the future, the Train of Ideas is taking its urban environment exhibition on the road. The Hamburg European Green Capital exhibition is fostering exchange and mutual learning throughout Europe.

The event brought together Mercedes Bresso, the President of the Committee of the Regions of the EU and EU Commissioner for Environment, Janez Potočnik in the center of the city.
