North Brabant (Noord-Brabant) is a province of the Netherlands centrally positioned between the port cities of Rotterdam and Antwerp and the German Ruhr area.
The province is focusing on the three clusters that offer the most promise: solar energy, electric automobiles/smart networks and bio-based economy. These clusters offer the best opportunities for the Brabant economy and employment, expected to generate €4 billion Euros in turnover and 25,000 jobs in 2020.
In working towards a sustainable economy, the province is working closely with the municipalities and businesses in Brabant. The province is removing obstacles and bottlenecks so as to maximise the opportunities for developments in sustainability and savings.
Electric automobiles and smart networks
Brabant is an expert in the automotive and high-tech sectors. Innovation in electronic automobiles and smart networks is primarily due to the partnerships between small and large technology companies. These companies are capable of developing new mobility products and services. For this reason, the province is setting up an investment fund for technology start-ups in the SME segment. It is also stimulating alliances between entrepreneurs, knowledge institutes and government by taking steps to ensure that companies are able to launch innovations on the market together.
