Ramping up to Hydrogen Infrastructure Build-up

The recent European Commission Communication on the EU strategy on clean and energy efficient vehicles ( COM2010/186) confirmed the complementarily of battery electric and fuel cell electric car  development and  the EU providing “a leading role in working with Member States at national and regional level on the build-up of a charging and refuelling infrastructure in the EU”. The Competitiveness Council of the EU on May 25 confirmed the Commission intentions and urged the Commission “to stimulate the market uptake of clean and energy-efficient vehicles, without giving preference to any particular technology as well as exploring the potential of public procurement and of grouped purchases for large vehicle fleets within the existing legal framework for public procurement”.
The EHA/HyER seminar on infrastructure requirements on March 23 in Brussels, the April 30 HyER Fuel Cell Bus Integration seminar in Cologne and the Hydrogen Infrastructure Strategy meeting at the WHEC in Essen on May 20, demonstrate that HyER is ready to take action to support the market uptake of hydrogen and fuel cell applications involving key EU, national and local stakeholders. We invite regions and municipalities interested in integrating hydrogen as an energy carrier into their energy-mix to join the HyER Partnership to share experiences and develop joint procurement and investment programmes in these clean and innovative technologies.
